In the early rap days a freestyle was considered a “off the top” rendition of rap performed by a rapper (often subject based) that they would perform on street corners or battle raps. Nowdays most peoples perception of a freestyle is them chatting a pre rehearsed lyric which isnt a song! Although some of “these” freestyles are really good, Talib Kweli comes and educates most in his F64 rendition! The F64 is a concept dreamt up by SBTV (smokey bars) who has been working real hard over last couple years as a forefront media documentor of the UK music scene. Boy Better Know CEO JME (Jamie Adenuga) returns with a follow up to the single “Over Me” with a reflective offering this time, “Sidetracked”. A strong chorus is sung by Wiley (auto tune flex) with Jme giving us an insight into his world and perhaps why sometimes musicians can get sidetracked. Another BBK/Staplehouse link up on the visual side of thing…….and another success. The guys at Staplehouse continue to better themselves and this is no exception. A real reflective type video with the vast majority in slow motion (whilst the syncing remains emmaculate). Look out for the magical in the video!
